i'm questioning weather it's more than just the medium of paint that makes a painting. some artists use paint but the end work is more like a colorful drawing. i'm trying to figure out what it is for me that makes an artist a painter, and not just someone that paints.
Well, I'd almost think it's the amount of detail. The more detail, the more like a drawing it is. With a painting, you can have less detail because it's more about the affect from a couple of steps away. The shadow and stuff is more inmporatant. Details are still there, but in a different way. That's how I see it anyway.

Good question. Wouldn't it be paint vs. some other medium though?
